Jurbarkas region is unique by significant culture heritage for nation history. Also – by impressive landscape. The attraction of the region is strengthened by the fact that the southern border of the region of seventy kilometers length continuously goes along the coast of the biggest river of Lithuania – Nemunas. Anyhow you travel through Jurbarkas region – by land or water ways – the past and the culture of the nation opens against your eyes. The objects are hospitably waiting for everyone who is interested in nation history, ancient Nemunas coast resident’s manner and traditions. These objects are Seredžius, Veliuona and Jurbarkas mounds that mention the defensive wall of the Middle Ages, Panemunė and Raudonė castles of Revival Style, manor complexes, the depot of tourism facility and services – docks, bicycle paths and village tourism homesteads.

PLACES TO VISIT
• Mountain Palemonas. 
This mound is located at the junction of Nemunas and Dubysa. It is mentioned in Lithuania chronicle in the legendary story about the origin of Lithuanians. Historians romanticists had named Seredžius mound for mountain Palemonas. According to the legend, Palemonas – the duke of Rome, had arrived to these regions, stayed here and was buried inside it. This was in I age. Seredžius mound also mentions fights with the crusaders. Is it considered that defensive Pieštvė castle stood here.
• Veliuona archeological mounds complex.
Gediminas Grave Mountain. The legend claims that Grand Duke Gediminas was perished here during fights with the crusaders when protecting Veliuona castle. Veliuona inhabitants had poured a grave for his glory. Also the memorial–obelisk was built. These are the reasons why the mound was named Gediminas Grave Mountain. Calm Mountain. Junigeda castle was built on this mound in 13 age. It was the strongest castle in the defensive line of Nemunas reach. It was the main Lithuanians forward position in fights with the crusaders that withstood their attacks even for 76 years.
• Veliuona Manor. 
Ornate wooden manor house of Classicism Style and the park of composite style. The biggest decoration and worth of the park are magnolia flower tulip-trees. The museum of Veliuona region is established in manor accommodation. Ethnographical exposition of Veliuona region – ”The class of Petras Cvirka” („Petro Cvirkos klasė“), is operated there. It introduces us with the biography of the writer P. Cvirka (1909–1947) and the school of his living period.
• Raudonė Castle and the park. 
Resident castle of Revival Style was built in the end of XVI age. Recent look was got after the reconstruction in 1877. If you want to get an eyeful of wonderful Nemunas valley, you can come up into the castle tower of 33,5 m height. One of the biggestnatural worth is an old park surrounding the castle. Poly-trunk linden stands there. Also one of the oldest oak in Europe – Gediminas Oak, was standing there. According to the legends, the duke Gediminas of the Great Duchy of Lithuania had a dinner under this oak.
• Panemunė Castle and the park. 
Panemunė Castle is standing on the right bank of Nemunas near the road Kaunas–Jurbarkas. It had got a
name from Panemunė manor existed earlier. Panemunė Castle is feudalist castle of the beginning of XVII age with a defensive system, residential and household buildings. Beautiful park of the castle, cascade ponds and hilly relief leave indelible impression for every passenger.
• The old Smalininkai port, water measurement station. 
The oldest in Lithuania and the first at Nemunas river water measurement station was established in Smalininkai in 1811. Currently there are extant stone
“steps” that were bricked in 1886 and used to measure water level. Near the rod there is an observation turret that was built in 1924–1926.

Since 2007 Viešvilė national natural reservation was included into European Community of protected natural areas network NATURA 2000. The reservation serves for the preservation of biological diversity, for the retaining of ecological balance and for science and educative purposes of the community. Till these days there are extant continental see-banks, wonderful beech groves, rare plants and forest arrays that are not affected by the civilization. Panemunė Regional Park was established in order to retain the unique landscape of Nemunas reach, its natural ecosystem and the worth of culture heritage. Park directorate is located in departed Šilinė
pub (the middle of XVIII age). Today this pub is accepted as folk architectural memorial. Permanent exposition “Nemunas feeds, warms and dresses” („Nemunas maitina, šildo, rengia“) operates here. Education programs where everyone is introduced with the traditions of fishing and navigation in Nemunas are guided here.
