 Zypliai estate

MOSTLY VISITING OBJECTS OF THE TOURISTS

• The homestead of Zypliai estate

Zypliai estate was established by the landlord of Polockas governor place Jonas Barkovskis in XIX century near Lukšiai. The estate is surrounded by large park preserved quite uncommon sorts of trees. Former stabling and garner of the estate include art gallery. There exhibitions of the artists function and cultural events proceed. Hammerers and ceramicists invite to educational session.
• The park of Gelgaudiškis estate
In the middle of XIX century Prussian baron G. H. Koidelis had built masonry palace of the estate on the slope of Nemunas. This palace remains till modern-day and are being restored. Large park of the estate separates with complicated layout and strict geometrical forms. Cognitive path is appointed there (of 2.3 km length). The park includes interesting objects waved by the legend: “Asesoriaus kapas“, “Velnio kalnas“, “Baronkapinės“, square “Žvaigždė“, spring let of pure water. Funny entertainment is being organized for the groups – spectacular excursion with court, musicians and regale.
• The complex of Sudargas mounds
This complex of 5 mounds overlooking on the bank of Nemunas at the margin with Kaliningrad district is considered to be the most important one over Kernavė mounds by historical, archaeological and cultural meaning. Down Vorpilis mound during fine weather is possible to distinguish Tauragė towers existing even over 30 km.

• Vaiguva stream-street
Plokščiai town includes unique Vaiguva stream-street also called Lithuanian Venice. Since the year the homesteads are located from both sides of the stream and the residents of the street reach their yards only by driving of wading the channel of the stream. Several springs flows into Vaiguva so the water is always clean and cold.
• Novaraistis ornithological reserve
This is natural complex settled in the place of former peat bog and characterized by the variety of large habitations of the birds. There few sorts of vanishing species had found their sanctuary. The traveler is meted not only by pure weather but also by the forest sounding by resounding piping of various birds. Several thousands of long-legged cranes flock here in the autumn annually. The birds can be observed with the binoculars from survey tower.
• Griškabūdis church
This is the only octagonal wooden church in Lithuania yet resounding by the feast of St. Anna in Zanavykai land. It was built in the end of XVIII century by Carmelite monks. Baroques altars were created by the artist Guty in the end of XIX century. The walls are coated with polychromic painting of the walls mostly imitating architectural elements.
Vincas Kudirka museum
The museum was opened in 1998 and stands in the place where once the ambassador of national revival Vincas Kudirka had lived. The part of museum’s exposition is committed for the history of the town and its surroundings and for enlightened people native of this land. The second part of this exposition is committed for the bell-ringers and for the most prominent of them – Vincas Kudirka. The monument for Dr. V. Kudirka stands facing the museum. It was unclosed in 1934 (author Vincas Grybas).
Zanavykai land museum
The museum includes expositions: “Historical review of the land“, “Suffering of flax“, “Zanavykiška stuba“, exposition of R. Stepulaitis oeuvre, Tamašauskas woodworker’s studio, ethnographic domestic implement and other. Traditional cultural events are being organized in the museum, there the afternoons take place, and thematic exhibitions are performed. Educational lessons are being organized for the Childs and young people.
The ensemble of Pr. Sederevičius sculptures
Unique sculpture’s ensemble of folk sculptor Pranas Sederevičius in Kudirkos Naumiestis is probably the only one example of primitive folk art in Lithuania of similar character. Self-educated sculptor had produced enormous sculptures from cement. The first works of Pr. Sederevičius were horses. Then the busts of Vytautas the Great, Dr. V. Kudirka, Pr. Vaičaitis, Darius and Girėnas, J. Tumas-Vaižgantas and other famous people.
